Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Kiteware, Sepapaja 6, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia ("we", "us"), the operator of LandLocked — the game, its apps and landlocked.io (together, "the game"). By creating an account or playing, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you don't agree, please don't use the game.

1. Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or at least 16 if you live in the European Union, the EEA or the United Kingdom. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms for you. You can't use the game if we have previously banned you, or if the law where you live forbids it.

2. Your account

• Give a real email address you control. We use it to sign you in and to reset your password.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
• Your account is personal. Don't sell, trade, share or give it away, and don't use someone else's.
• Tell us straight away at support@landlocked.io if you think someone else has got into your account.

3. A game in development

LandLocked is free to play and is still being built. We may add, change or remove features, rebalance the rules, take the game down for maintenance, and reset the world, which deletes game progress (your sign-in is kept). We try to give notice of resets and long outages in the game, but we don't promise the game will always be available or that any progress will be kept.

4. Virtual items

Land, gold, resources, units, buildings, scores and everything else in the game ("virtual items") are part of the game and are licensed to you for use in it only. They are not your property, have no monetary value, and can't be exchanged for real money. Don't buy, sell or trade virtual items or accounts for real money or anything outside the game. LandLocked has no paid content today; if we add any, we will tell you the price and terms before you buy, and these terms will be updated first.

5. Rules of conduct

LandLocked is a game about war, so conquering other players is fair play. Treating them badly outside the game's rules is not. Don't:

• harass, threaten, bully or stalk anyone, or encourage others to;
• post hateful content attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or similar;
• post sexual content, content involving minors in any sexual way, graphic violence, or content promoting self-harm, terrorism or illegal activity;
• share anyone's personal information (including your own email or phone number in chat), or impersonate another person, another player or us;
• spam, advertise, or post links to scams or malware;
• cheat: use bots, scripts, modified clients, or automated or unofficial access to our servers; exploit bugs instead of reporting them; or run several accounts to gain an advantage;
• attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer our servers, or try to get at data that isn't yours;
• break the law, or help anyone else break these rules.

Country names, alliance names and alliance crests follow the same rules.

6. What you post

You keep ownership of what you write in the game, such as chat messages and names. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and transmit it as needed to run the game, for as long as it is in the game. You are responsible for what you post. We don't review everything players post, but we may remove anything that breaks these terms.

7. Reports and moderation

You can report a player or a message with the report tools in the game or by emailing support@landlocked.io, and you can block players so you no longer see their messages. You can also tell us about content you believe is illegal at the same address; please say where it is and why you think it is illegal.

If you break these terms we may, depending on how serious it is, remove content, reverse gains from cheating, warn you, or suspend or close your account, temporarily or permanently. Where we act on your content or account, we will tell you what we did and why, unless the law or safety prevents it, and you can ask us to look at the decision again by replying to that message or emailing support@landlocked.io.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or at landlocked.io/delete-account. Deleting it removes your progress for good. We may suspend or close your account under section 7, and we may stop running the game altogether; if we do, we will try to give you reasonable notice. Sections 4, 6 (for content still in the game), 9, 10, 11 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

9. Our game and content

The game, its software, art, music, text and design belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the official apps and website to play the game under these terms. Don't copy, modify, distribute or sell any part of the game, or make derivative works from it, except as the law allows.

10. Disclaimers

The game is free and provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that progress or data will be kept. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that the law says can't be excluded.

11. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of virtual items, game progress or data, and our total liability to you for any claim about the game is limited to USD 100 (or the equivalent in your currency). We don't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude. If you live in the EU, EEA or UK, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Before starting any formal dispute, please email support@landlocked.io so we can try to sort it out. We are not obliged to, and don't, take part in consumer dispute resolution schemes.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the game changes. We will change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we will tell you in the game or by email before it takes effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
